Silicon Production On the Rise in China

According to statistics released by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, factories across the country produced 143,000 tons of polycrystalline silicon during the first half of this year, a year-over-year increase of 24 percent. Silicon chips manufactured soared to 50 GW during the same period, up 38.9 percent, of which, 52.7 percent were monocrystalline. Battery chips coming off production lines totaled 39 GW, up 21.9, of which, 41 percent were monocrystalline. Output of battery components reached 42 GW, up 23.5 percent.
