GE turbines to power 110 MW of wind projects in India

Wind developer CleanMax has selected GE Renewable Energy to supply 42 of the 2.7-132 wind turbines for onshore wind projects in India.

Product design will take place primarily at GE’s Technology Centre in Bengaluru, blades being manufactured in GE’s plants in Vadodara and Bengaluru and assembly at the GE Multi-modal Manufacturing Facility in Pune. GE’s 2.7-132 wind turbine is considered well-suited to India’s low wind speeds.

The wind farms, totaling 110 MW, will contribute to India’s renewables target of 175 GW by 2022, with 60 GW coming from wind.

CleanMax develops wind farms across India that allow Open Access power procurement. From these facilities, they supply large corporates with renewable energy cheaper than the prevailing grid electricity tariffs.
